About the 2026 Primary Division

One of the province-wide K–12 contests approved by the Guangdong Department of Education for the 2025–2028 academic terms. 2026 is the launch year, themed "Science+", fusing AI deeply with Earth Science.

🌍

Earth Science × AI

From ecology and geology to stars, plants, and birds — paired with AI satellite imagery, AI identification and other real scenarios. Kids experience a dialogue between technology and nature.

🧠

Literacy + Innovation

Questions emphasize fundamentals and everyday application; the final round adds cross-disciplinary synthesis and AI-application problems to build independent thinking.

🔬

Preliminary + Final

Preliminary uses a transitional dual mode (online CBT + paper-based). Final is an on-site one-day event with subject-advanced exams, an elective, and field study.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose tracks for the preliminary and final?
There are seven tracks, all freely chosen: in the preliminary you pick one of five subject tracks (Earth Ecology / Geology & Paleontology / Cosmos & Sky / Plants & Insects / Birds); in the final you pick one of two stream tracks (Geophysics / Geochemistry).
Is CBT or paper-based easier?
Neither — the two papers are identical in content, difficulty, and scoring; only the presentation differs. CBT embeds AI virtual scenarios (satellite comparison, AI rock/bird ID, etc.); paper-based mirrors them with static images, data tables, or text. Format is selected by schools based on their facilities and does not affect ranking.
How are qualifier slots allocated?
Ranked by preliminary score, factoring in per-track entry ratios. Roughly the top 20% of total entrants advance; tied scores may expand the cohort. Each of the five subject tracks gets its own slots.
What is the final's "one of two", and when do I choose?
Besides the advanced exam on the preliminary track you qualified in, the final requires choosing one of two streams — Geophysics or Geochemistry — as your elective. This is confirmed after qualifying and before the final; free training is provided.
Is there a registration fee?
Registration is free, in compliance with Guangdong whitelist contest rules. Final lodging is at the student's expense (subsidies available for students in financial need); details accompany the qualifier notice.
Is pre-contest training offered?
Yes — six free online modules in the two weeks before the final, covering AI Overview, Five-Track Sprint, Geophysics/Geochemistry primers, AI Data Practicum, and a mock + Q&A. All sessions are recorded for replay.
